Dr. Joy Lucas

Dr. Joy Lucas is originally from Wellston, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate degree at Ohio Dominican University. She then attended the University of Tennessee, where she received her doctorate of verterinary medicine in 1994. In 1995, she completed her internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Following her internship, Dr. Lucas worked at a small animal practice for six years in Albany, NY. In June of 2001 she purchased Upstate Animal Medical Center.

In addition to her passion for small animal medicine, Dr. Lucas has a strong interest in avian and exotic medicine. She also volunteers her time to care for sick and injured wildlife.

In honor of her late Great Dane "Zu," Dr. Lucas supports the Safe Pet Partnership Organization, which is a division of Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis services of Saratoga County.

In her spare time, Dr. Lucas enjoys many outdoor activities in the Adirondacks, from rock climbing and kayaking with her husband to hiking with her two dogs, "Eos" and "Ouzz." Her other beloved critters inlcude her three birds and four cats.


Dr. Greg Bayan

Dr. Greg Bayan joined the staff of Upstate Animal Medical Center in late August 2007. Born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ, he moved to the Glens Falls region in 1984. He received his undergraduate degree in zoology at Rutgers University in 1977 and his doctorate of veterinary medicine from Cornell University in 1982.

Dr. Bayan worked in a small animal practice for 6 years before becoming an emergency vet at the Capital District Animal Emergency Clinic in Latham, NY for 19 years. He moved to Moreau, NY in 1988, where he lives with his family and shih-tzu "Rio," cats "Jenny" and "Jasper," and parakeet "Tweety." He loves hiking, kayaking, and cross-country skiing, as well as wood-working, gardening, and playing the guitar and trumpet.

He finds this position challenging, but enjoys working with his patients in a much happier, less critical situation.
